Atlantic Series Black & Cream Lacquered Chessmen 3.75 Inches

High grade boxwood. High gloss lacquer finish. Weighted and felted. Robust yet beautiful. 3.75 inch (95 mm) king. Perfect on a 20 inch (50 cm) board. The Atlantic Series Staunton chess pieces take on a contemporary modern feel with this black and light cream lacquered version. All of the pieces are turned from high grade boxwood; the black pieces finished in a high gloss black lacquer, the white with a cream finish. These fine chess pieces are double weighted and generously felted on their bases. The gloss lacquering doesn’t take away any of the fine detailing of the pieces and the extremes in tone gives excellent contrast on the chess board.The knight is robust enough to endure many years in the battlefield while retaining some of his goofy character and presence. The neat ‘tucked in’ ears allow for plenty of chess playing without fear of damaging its ornamental appeal. As with all Staunton sets we sell, the proportions of the pieces are all in perfect harmony with each other. Setting up the pieces on the board demonstrates just how perfectly sized each one is in relation to its neighbour.These chessmen will sit perfectly on a chess board with a square size of 2 inches (51 mm) or greater.
