Constantine Series Ebony Chess Set

Presented with a 21.7 inch (55 cm) high gloss Spanish board. Superbly ornate Staunton design. Crafted from solid ebony. 4.5 inch (114 mm) king and two additional queens. Weighted for perfect balance. Bases covered with billiard cloth. Eclecticism defines an idea wherein the greatest attributes from several ideals are selected, subsequently creating an exciting new perspective to consider. One look at the Constantine Series indicates that a similarly open minded, perfectionist approach has been adopted by our craftsmen. The king, an impressive 92 g in weight, boasts a silhouette inspired by the ancient architecture of the Mughal’s, with a rounded top supporting a decorative spire. Next to his 4.25 inch frame is a queen chosen for her elegant, Moor-inspired headdress. Their differing styles, expressive and graceful, complement each other perfectly in this remarkable set. First put on a chessboard to represent professionally trained royal guards, the knights have always been hugely influential pieces. The Constantine knight is one of the most detailed in the Regency Collection, with a long firebrand mane and a flicker of hair covering one eye. Adding to the exceptional quality of the set is the solid ebony wood used to create it. Complementing these pieces is a 21.7 inch (55 cm) gloss board expertly made in Barcelona, Spain.
