The Good vs Evil hand painted themed chess pieces by Italfama

Beautifully crafted in Italy. Painstakingly hand painted. 3.25 inch king. Ideal for a 16 inch board. THE PIECES The ‘Good’ pieces are not based on any particular character in history but they do have a King Arthur look about them. The King, draped in a luxurious red cloak, is a tall and regal character with an ornate crown on his head and large sword in his hand. His queen is elegant and beautifully robed. The bishop has a look of Merlin about him, with his long white beard, whilst the knight is a ferocious looking dragon. The rook is portrayed as a cliff top castle and the pawns are smart looking chain mailed soldiers with shield and sword in hand. The ‘Evil’ pieces are elegantly clothed but skeletal characters with a formidable, dagger bearing king. His queen is beautifully dressed and ornate. A wizened old warlock type character bearing a skull portrays the bishop whilst a fearsome gargoyle creature plays the knight. The Rook is an eerie castle with skulls in abundance and the pawns are ghoulish creatures brandishing a mace and an axe. We have matched these chessmen with a beautiful Walnut and Maple board to give you Good vs Evil Themed Chess Set THE HISTORY The conflict between good and evil is one of the doctrines of the 3000 year old Zoroastrian faith which is one of the worlds oldest religions. Good vs evil is also a common theme in literature and considered to be a generic part of the human condition. There are a few variations on this conflict, between individuals or ideologies or the inner struggle in humans. A villian will see himself doing the ‘just ‘thing’ whilst another will almost certainly say they are doing wrong. Good is a thing which will not hurt anyone but evil does it. For example; ignorance, by definition is evil, while being educated in all current matters is just and good.
