The Jazz Band Vs Rock Stars Hand painted themed chess pieces by Italfama
Beautifully ornate. Hand Painted. Made in Italy. 3.25 inch King. Ideal for a 16 inch board. THE CHESS MEN Looking every inch a jazz band in their white suits and red dicky bow ties, they are led by a guitar strumming king and sultry crooning queen. Actively playing their instruments, the Knight plucks his double bass whilst the traditional jazz instrument, the saxophone is displayed by the bishop. Beating the drums are the castles whilst clarinet players make up the team of pawns. Portrayed as a typical rock band with tattoos and clad in leather, both the King and Queen in the rock band are animatedly performing their song into hand held mikes. The bishops, knights and pawns are all sporting guitars with the knight being particularly spirited in his stance whilst the castle coolly beats the rhythm on the drums. We have matched these stunning pieces with a beautiful 15.75 Walnut and Maple board from Spain to give you The Jazz vs Rock Chess Set. With or without the board, this is a superb gift for any music enthusiast. THE HISTORYOriginating from African American communities in New Orleans, USA in the late 19th century, Jazz emerged as a music genre that was a form of independent styles all fused by a common link. Spanning over a century, Jazz comprises such a wide range of music that it is difficult to define, however with the passing of time, variations of jazz have emerged to be enjoyed by different generations. Originating in the 1950s in the USA, rock and roll (as it was first known) developed into a spectrum of different styles a decade later. Heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music, rock also absorbed a number of other genres including electric blues, folk, mass and classical.
