The Pearl Harbour Second world war hand painted themed Chess set by Italfama

Presented on a beautiful 15.75 inch Spanish board. Beautifully crafted. Made in Italy. Superb detail. 3.25 inch King. THE PIECES Whilst he did not come up with the plan to attack Pearl Harbour, Chūichi Nagumo – Admiral of The Imperial Japanese army – oversaw this campaign. His piece, in particular, is beautifully detailed with medals and insignia. Nagumo had a few trustworthy lieutenants and we believe he is supported here by Minoru Genda, who was a military aviator and politician. Genda also best known for helping to plan the attack at Pearl Harbour. The smartly uniformed bishop with his binoculars at the ready and fighter pilots stand to attention as the pawns but again, it is the knight and rook, depicted as an aircraft carrier atop a wave and fighter plane against a billowing cloud, that take centre stage for this army None other than Franklin Roosevelt makes an imposing King in this wartime set of pieces with, what we believe to be, a Vice Admrial of the Navy as his second in command. Navy and army personnel make up the pawns and bishops respectively but it is the US destroyer riding the crest of wave and fighter plane against a plume of smoke that are the unique pieces in this contingent, representing the knight and the rook respectively, that catch the eye. These stunning historical pieces are matched with a beautiful walnut and maple 15.75 inch board from the famous Rechapados Ferrer of Spain making it a very enviable chess set. The Pearl Harbour Second World War Hand Painted Themed Chess Men are also available separately. Either way, this makes for a perfect gift for any WWII or chess enthusiast.
