Tower Series Carved Sheesham and Boxwood Chess Pieces

Painstakingly carved from solid golden rosewood. Beautifully intricate detailing. Imposing 4.5″ (112 mm) king. Weighted and felted. Best suited to a 19″ (48 cm) board. To make the Tower Series Carved Chessmen craftsmen first source large blocks of golden rosewood and boxwood. From there they begin to hand carve away the excess until a thin, gainly base shape is made. The next stage begins when the aforementioned craftsmen start piercing the wood to create the dotted etchings that have come to define the series. Finally, once every finite detail is perfected, unique figureheads are painstakingly carved. The fretted Tower Chessmen are then finished to an understated shine and ready for sale. Although the pieces are tall, with a king of 4.5 inches (112 mm), their bases are a large 1.4 inches (36 mm), giving them a sturdy yet swift feeling in hand. To get the best out of these pieces we recommend playing on a board that is 19 inches (48 cm) or larger.
